Think we've all seen pictures like this in the press. These pictures are from the Daily Mirror, Daily Mail, Times and Eastern Daily Press. Pedestrians walk past a row of boarded up shops in Altrincham. The pictures look depressing and it feels humiliating that people think Altrincham is like it has been portrayed in the press.

Altrincham Within looks to bring together the community find out what is considered beautiful about Altrincham. It's a ​ positive step to empower local people to have a say in what they find good about our town and encourage a sense of belonging within a community.

The brief is to find out what and where people personally find beauty in Altrincham and demonstrate it's beauty to everyone else through photographs for the community to be proud of and to promote the area.

The project will start by giving 2 free workshops. The first will be tips on how to produce better pictures in a more creative way. The second will be about how to use some of the software available to enhance and edit your photographs producing stunning effects. Cameras and computers will be accessible at OSA to complete their submissions.

We will involve the community in a project which involves them taking a role and doing something positive for the community. They will benefit from coming together with others who have a common interest. The aim will be to form a group that will meet on a regular basis. Sharing an interest is seen as a good way of practising the 5 ways to health and well-being giving good mental health.
