Henri Matisse (1869-1954) was a french painter, designer and sculptor. He was the leader of the Fauvism movement, a movement which emphasized on a painting's qualities and strong color over realistic representation.
Matisse said that he was never truly expressing himself until he started to work with collages. Let’s express ourselves with our very own Matisse inspired collage !

You will need :
a white sheet of paper
several sheets of colored paper
glue
scissors

Step 1
In the colored paper, cut out geometric shapes such as triangles, circles and squares.
Also cut out various shapes like for example scribbles, spirals, drops, etc ...
You will need at least thirty of these.

Step 2
Take your sheet of white paper.
Place the shapes on the sheet. How you arrange them is up to you. For example, you can place the larger shapes below the smaller ones.
You can also overlay the shapes.

Step 3
When you have set up the shapes, glue them to your sheet of paper.
Finally, you can “frame” your collage by cutting a frame from thick colored paper.
Now, all you have to do is display your "Henri Matisse" creation in your room !
