Jackson Pollock (1912-1956) is an american painter, known for abstract expressionism.
He paints abstract compositions which do not represent a particular object or character, but are more assertive as a pure act of creation.
Our objective today is to understand and experiment Pollock’s painting technique, “Action Painting”, by using different tools and actions. This is an interesting activity for children of for the whole family !
You will need :
Plastic protective cover
white paper roll
Paint brushes
Fluid paint
Thick drawing paper
1) Install a large protective tarp and spread a roll of white paper over it.
2) Take or give your children paint brushes and pots of fluid paint. Share an emotion (joy, anger, sadness…) and ask them to express it on paper. It can be done through using a color, a lively gesture, by gently applying the paint, with an arm movement or by letting the paint drip…
3) Then, gather the paintings and discuss with them the emotions they wanted to convey with the gestures made.
This will help to develop their oral and body expression.
