DIY : FELT WEATHER MAP

Have fun with your children by making a felt weather map! It is an ideal manual activity to keep them busy. It is made with felt sheets, a simple and pleasant material to work with.

You will need :

  • Felt sheets (20x30 cm)

  • Fabric glue

  • Scissors

  • An alphabet stencil

  • Twine

  • One A4 cardboard feather (3 mm)

  • A cutter

  • Velcro


  • Glue a sheet of blue felt onto the feather cardboard with fabric glue.

  • Cut the excess featherboard with the cutter, and the excess felt with the scissors.

  • Cut 2 strips of 2 x 30 cm and 3 strips of 2 x 16 cm in dark blue felt.

  • Paste them to create a frame.

  • Draw in the red felt the words "TODAY IS" with the help of the alphabet stencil then cut them out.

  • Glue the letters on the left side of the board with textile glue

  • Draw suns, clouds, lightning, raindrops and snowflakes in white, orange, yellow, and light blue felt. You can also make a rainbow.

  • Cut out the different shapes.

  • Glue Velcro pads to the back of the shapes.

  • Cut a piece of string and hang it on the back of the map.

  • Place your weather symbols on the map.


Your felt weather map is now complete ! All you have to do is hang it on the wall. Your family will enjoy placing the correct symbol on the board every morning according to the day's weather !
